Today, I taught the grade five and six. I start off by teaching them to line up. I tell them to place their bag in a line and start taking their bag by lining up. I told them the advantages of waiting because as I have observed them for weeks, they have a lack of patience. They tend to push each other. Then, we continue to learn math. I have prepared some exercises regarding fractions and roots. Some of them have a hard time doing the exercises so I helped them. Then, we continue on doing their homework. I realize my weakness is on history because I can't help on their history homework. As we have planned the previous week, we are playing the team work game and they are very excited. There are some students who push their friends while playing and I realize how they still need guidance on manner and ethics.

Today was a bit different as we spend half of the class explaining rules and regulations for each class. We create essential agreements with each class and we will make a universal agreement probably next week. We also explain on what signal which indicates that we want their attention. They cooperate really well, only one or two students seems to be distracted by their friends. Because we don’t have much time, I start helping the grade 3 and 4 in doing their homeworks. I gave a homework to them to make a times table until 10. Then, we planned to have a game which enhances their team work but it started raining so we told the students to go home early. In this meeting, I consider the ethical implications of my actions with the students. It is because today we explained about manner to respect other people, I have to show a good example to these students.

Today, I taught grade one and two. The number of students increases and I have a really hard time taking their attention. I have prepared some worksheets for the students. In the workheets, the students have to connect the dots. Some of them also did some simple additional and substraction problems. They did really well in some of the problems but the ones that are more challenging took them half an hour to do it. After finishing doing to exercises, I help them to do their homeworks. To keep them occupied, I told the kids who did not bring their homeworks to draw. They enjoy their time drawing and coloring so much.

I’m feeling sort of nervous today because this will be my first time with the 5th and 6th graders. I need to review my 6th grade materials since I forgot some of them. They are the one who needs the most attention as they are heading to the National Examination. Today, I prepare some worksheets so that they could work on it. I realize that one of the students are struggling in math as he was not doing anything. I tried to help him but he seems so confused. It seems that I need to teach him basic mathematics first before continuing on my teaching process. There is also one other students who struggles in reading. This proves that in school these students will struggle a lot. I hope that I could help them deal with their hardships.

After the Lebaran break, there are many students who can’t come because they are still in their holiday trips. Today, I taught the 3rd and 4th grade fractions. I have a really small class due to some students not coming so it was easier for me to handle the class. I start the class by introducing fractions to a grade three student because she has not learn fractions yet at school. Then, I told the kids to color the picture of pizzas that I have prepared. I told the to color different fractions and they seem to enjoy coloring so much. After finishing up, I start to help them with their homeworks. Students who did not bring the homeworks continue on coloring. For today’s meeting, I realize my areas of strenghts and weaknesses. When I try to help them with their homeworks, some of my kids went away to the other class. This indicates that my teaching process seems ‘boring’ to them. This challenges me to find ways so that teaching and learning process could be a fun thing to do in the future. I’m really glad that the kids are so enthusiastic and they cooperate really well even though I have so much things to improve.
