On Tuesday, I'm not having any mandarin lesson because it's a national holiday. My teacher have said that we will not be having a class that day instead, we're going to meet on Friday. So on Friday, as usual, I started reviewing last week's vocabularies. Then, I learn about currencies, and simple vocabularies to buy things from stores. I also learn about names of countries and also about school such as: students, high school, middle school and primary school. From this meeting, I have undertaken new challenges, knowing my areas of strength and improvements and also have shown my perseverance in learning mandarin. Many of my friends stops their lesson because they thought it was too hard but I believe, mandarin is something that is possible to work with. I'm positive by next year, I'm able to speak this language.

May 10 and May 13, 2011

Today, we learn about how to have a small conversation with each other. Last week, I was struggling with this but after some times, I got use to it and it became much smoother than before. I think my perseverance have come a result of improvement. I believe I still have a lot of things to work on. I also learn about some body parts. I also have learn names of drinks such as milk, tea, coffee, etc. This meeting increases my awareness of what I have to work on and what I'm good at. Now, I have a goal to accomplish: to be able to make a sentence out of the vocabularies that I Know. To accomplish this goal, I sometimes use mandarin while trying to express simple sentences like "I'm hungry/full" "I'm happy, how about you?" to my friends. The teacher said that it is better to use my mandarin in everyday life to be able to remember the vocabularies.

May 3 and May 6, 2011

Starting May, I'm going to have 2 meetings (Tuesday and Friday). In total, I'm going to have my mandarin lesson for 3 hours/week. In today's meeting, i spend the first 10 minutes to review our previous lessons because I have skipped a month and I forgot most of the vocabularies. My teacher and I started off easy such as constructing simple sentences just to back up my memory and start to open up the books and then start the new lesson. I learn about relationships such as brothers, sister, mother, nephew, etc. I also learn about how do I say time, direction and also how to welcome people in or out. I especially having a hard time today in constructing sentences with the new vocabularies but this also created perseverance in me. I knew I could do it but I'm just starting to struggle a lot these days plus the homework from school is piling up.

On Friday, I learn vocabulary for hungry, full, busy, tired, etc. I also learn on how to say a word with two different tones. I have no problem in pronouncing the different tones, but I do face some difficulties to remember the vocabularies. It is sometimes too much but I learn lots of new stuff and I believe that I could work things out. Wish me luck!
